What's a tool girl to do?
Search the internet - trust me there are none. I tried tea canisters but they are either tool short (I like my tools at least 4+" long) or they don't close properly. How do they close? It is a pressure fit and with tools shifting, the lids get pushed off and the tools are then all over the inside of my tool bag.
So, it was time to make my own. I used the Complete Metalsmith to review the best ways to make a seam. I also learned some seams while at Haystack last summer but I wanted to review the process before I started.
I mentioned all of this in my last post and I now have pictures to post. The last picture shows the tools i have purchased in the bottom of the canister. The tools I have made (and one made for me) are in the lid, and in the middle you can see ANOTHER canister that is in progress.
I still have add the locking mechanism, which will be a post and slot.
I can now take these with me when I attend the David Huang chasing workshop and decorate them - a chased canister to hold my chasing tools.
