Two weeks ago I went back to the Studio Door Gallery for the artists reception and end of their Holiday Art Market.
I spent the time talking to the other artists about their work and many other things. I met another artist who had some macro photography and one picture was of the natural weathering (I call it patina). I ended up trading the dish Deep Space for the picture and we were both happy.
THEN.....
Last weekend, I taught a private chasing & repousse class; Stephanie wanted to learn how to work on a "tin"
Prior to the weekend we discussed a design and getting an tin; I suggested we start on an Altoid tin as it was small and if she pierced the metal, it would not be a large loss. I arrived around 10 am and I brought a tin and design for me to work on too. To read about other tins I have done, follow this link
We removed the paint on the lid, pushed the raised letters back in, filled the lid in with pitch and chased our lines. We then flipped the lid and worked on the repousse. I had brought a simple design for me to do just in case Stephanie did not finish, she could see all the steps and sure enough Stephanie still had more work to do but I was done with my repousse so I fliped it again, relined the design, did a small bit of planishing and then reattached the lid to the body.
