Since Spring Break ended in mid-March I have been struggling to stay motivated in my art classes.
In Studio 2 we are doing digital and physical composites; In Beginning Drawing we are now drawing the human body with a flesh and blood model (yes, nude too), and in Core 2 we have been learning about color and type - which is where my issues came from.
I blame my messed up brain... dyslexia, CDO (cause they have to be in alphabetical order), anxiety, and ADHD. The first picture below kinda sums up how I have felt.
When we did the color module which actually was before the break, I assumed, not this operative word, it was on color theory. But NnnnnNNNnnnOOOooo, it was the use of color as and in art. Yes, we discussed the color spectrum, Newton's prism and color experiments, and just a smidge of Josef Albers, from the Bauhaus movement, color theory/experiments. Then we dove into taking photographs with or without color gels in the environment. There are pictures below.
The module we started after break was titled "Vernacular Type" and I, once again, assumed, it was on TYPOGRAPHY. Oh, boy was I soooo wrong; after much confusion and even a little bit of crying while working on the assignment - Jess, the teacher, said it was about WORDS AND TYPE as ART, not the fonts!!!
Now that I have all this sorted, I had some fun with finishing the assignments. I say some because, except for Drawing class, these assignments required the use of Photoshop, lots of Photoshop which I really don't enjoy using. Another student in the class was also struggling with the program, so I decided to help her and share the love/hate relationship. Below is a picture of my Voodoo doll, that I sent to her to help, over the weekend.
